Calendar events made easy

-

1 Add with Siri

Select an email in Mail. It depends on the words and phrases in the message, but sometimes Siri detects events. If you see this, click the ‘Add’ button to create an event. 2 Auto create events

Siri opens a panel and proposes a new event at the time and date in the email. Click ‘Add to Calendar’ to create it or click the ‘Details’ button to add more information. 3 Enter event details

All of the usual features can be accessed. Adjust the event end time, set the travel time and choose when to be reminded. Click ‘Add to Calendar’. 4 Mouse over dates

Siri has not shown an event notification for this email, maybe because of the lack of a time. Move the mouse over dates in emails to highlight them and click the button. 5 Events from dates

A new event is proposed, but the lack of a specific time in the message has caused it to be an all-day event. This may be all you need and if so, click ‘Add to Calendar’. 6 Add event details

Click in the event details panel and clear the all-day checkbox to turn this into a specific event. Then set the start and end time, travel time and alert as required. 7 Drag and drop

If you have the Calendar app onscreen at the same time as the Mail app and you need to create a calendar event, click an email, drag it to a day in Calendar and drop it. 8 Create Mail backlinks

A great feature of this method of creating calendar events is that it creates a backlink in the event to show the email. Click ‘Show in Mail’ to open the email it came from. 9 Drag any text

Create calendar events by dragging and dropping text. Triple-click an email subject and then drag it to a day to create an event. Drag email text to the Notes field too.
