Using Solo and Mute shortcuts
Step-by-step
1
Solo venture
Each track header features a solo and mute button specifically for that track. You can freely mute or solo tracks, as many as you like, in any combination by clicking these.
2
Using keys
You can achieve the same effect using your computer keyboard, simply by hitting the S key to solo the selected track(s), or the M key to mute tracks.
3
Solo toggle button
Above the track header list you’ll find the Solo Toggle button. Click this to switch states between no tracks solo’d and the previous combination of solo’d tracks.
4
Solo or mute regions
As well as soloing and muting tracks, you can use keystrokes to mute or solo individual regions. Just select the regions and hit ctrl+m for mute or ctrl+s for solo.
5
Solo region toggle
Once you’ve solo’d a region using ctrl+s, you can click a different region to solo that one instead without stopping playback. Use ctrl+s again to toggle solo on and off.
6
Select all muted regions
For a quick way to unmute a bunch of muted regions, use the shift+m keys to select all muted regions in your project, then use ctrl+m to unmute them all in one click.
7
Unmute all tracks
If you have several muted tracks that you want to quickly unmute, the ctrl+shift+m key command will instantly unmute all currently muted tracks in your project.
8
Solo Lock
Solo Lock mode lets you solo a bunch of regions, then lock that selection so you can edit another region with the original selection still solo’d. Engage it with option+s.
9
Solo safe mode
Hold down ctrl and click a track’s ‘S’ button to put it in solo safe mode. This is like immunity from solo – you’ll still hear this track if you solo any other track.
