What’s different in the XS Max?

The lowdown on what makes Apple’s most expensive smartphone tick

Gigantic screen

The iphone XS Max has the biggest screen of any iphone ever. At 6.5in it’s noticeably bigger than the standard XS and has a bigger display resolution of 2688 x 1242.

Extra battery

The iphone XS Max lasts 1.5 hours longer in tests than last year’s flagship, the iphone X. That’s a whole hour more than the iphone XS – something that heavy users should bear in mind.

Most expensive

At £1,099/$1,099, the Max is the most expensive iphone ever, so it definitely isn’t one for those on a budget. But it the biggest – and technically – best iphone. You still get value for money.

Heavy pockets

At 208g the iphone XS Max is a beast on the scales too. Anyone jumping from a 4.7in iphone will really notice a difference to start with – not that you won’t be able to get used to it quickly.
