Receive Airdrop items from others

Access Control Centre

Open the Control Centre by swiping down from the upper-right-hand corner of the screen if you have an iphone X or later (or by swiping up from the bottom on other models).

Press and hold

Firmly press down in the tile area of the screen that contains the four buttons for Airplane Mode, Cellular, Wi-fi and Bluetooth (or simply press down on the icons there).

Select Airdrop

You will now see two more options: one for a personal hotspot and the other for Airdrop. The current status of these options are shown beneath each one – tap ‘Airdrop’.

Select an option

Now you can decide to turn Airdrop off or allow your device to receive items from your contacts or everyone. Tap to make your choice and the status will instantly change.

Check the status

If you’re happy with the new status you have just selected (again it will be displayed), then simply tap anywhere outside the block of icons and close the Control Centre.

Receive item

Regardless of whether or not you choose either Contacts or Everyone, you will be asked to Accept or Decline all items that are sent to your device as and when they arrive.
