Master the IOS keyboard
The trackpad
If you use a 3D Touch-enabled device you can force press anywhere on the keyboard to bring up a trackpad – useful for navigating around complex or long documents.
Special characters
To quickly insert special characters you simply need to hold a key and then swipe upwards to see what’s available. Then slide to the character you want to use to insert it.
Caps Lock
Double-tap the ‘Shift’ key to enter CAPS LOCK mode. You will see the key underlined to indicate that everything you now type will be capitalised. It is effectively simple.
Text replacement
In Settings> general> keyboard> text Replacement you can add simple shortcuts to insert much longer phrases. The time savings are potentially huge when used properly.
Use one hand
You can go to General> keyboard and enable the ‘One-handed Keyboard’. Now select it by holding the emoji key to type with just one hand. It works very well indeed.
Something new
Don’t forget that many third-party keyboards are available from the IOS App Store, many of which contain specific features that will suit the requirements you have.
