How can I create custom wallpapers for my iphone?

- Judith Chapman

Customising your wallpaper is the most effective way of personalising your iphone, and there is only so long that we’re happy to go with the crowd and use the default IOS 12 wallpapers. Obviously it is easy to add photos within the Wallpaper Settings screen, but what about using other images that you find on the web? Here’s how to wallpaper up any image…

Save an image

When an image is displayed in Safari that you want to use as a wallpaper, tap the ‘Share/actions’ button and then tap on ‘Save Image’ to add it to your Photos library.

Create a face

If you own an Apple Watch and it is paired with your iphone, then you can create custom watch faces from here too. Tap on this option and you will be guided through the process. You can also preview the finished face.

Save to Files

Tap on this icon to save the image to your icloud storage, such as the Documents folder. From there it can be saved to the Photos library or even edited on the Mac before setting it as wallpaper.

Swipe for more

There are many more activities of course, and swiping left and right shows them all - well, all that are enabled. Tap on the ‘More’ option to add or remove activities, or you can drag them around to re-arrange them in a preferred order.
