Configure and extend the menu bar
Remember, clicking on the ‘Help’ menu is a great way to discover more about your Mac, as they don’t come with a physical manual to guide you.
Go to the General section of System Preferences. At the top are several customisation options that enable you to change the colour scheme and visibility of the menu bar.
You can add extra functionality to your menu bar by going to System Preferences and then ticking the option to ‘show’ from categories such as Sound, Internet, Bluetooth and Keyboard.
Alt+click everything! There are secret and hidden options that can be revealed by holding down the ‘Alt’ key and clicking on the menu bar icons. This is the expanded Bluetooth menu.

There are some really useful tools in the Mac App Store that add more features to your menu bar. Just open the App Store and type ‘menu bar’ into the Search field to find them. There are menu bar items that enable you to select screen resolutions and monitors, show internet usage and upload/ download speeds, control itunes and much more.
