12 HOW TO CREATE A FLORAL TABLE DISPLAY
Go all out for a special lunch or dinner this Christmas by dressing your table with beautiful blooms to create a real sense of occasion.
■ Start by laying out each guest’s place setting, including plates, glasses and cutlery, so you can see how much space you are left with.
■ Work out where you’d like your display to sit, whether in one long line down the centre, in three separate groups or at each end. If you’re incorporating candles in jars or hurricane glasses, make sure to leave space for these too.
■ Cut florist’s foam to your desired size and shape, then leave it to soak in water in a shallow tray or charger plate, to ensure the flowers will last (unless you are using dried flowers).
■ Put the wet foam in place. Cut the stems of your flowers so they can easily be poked into the foam and stand upright. A mass of gypsophila creates an understated yet elegant look.
