THE SOLUTION

‘We couldn’t figure out how we would make the large drawing room work until we realised its potential as a kitchen/living area – the ultimate family hub. We worked with kitchen designer and maker, Dan Mcclark, who had a vision for the room. I knew I wanted bookcases but the ladder was the icing on the cake. Taking the leap to go pink was a gradual process but we got there in the end! The project took around eight months from start to finish. The damaged ceiling came down, but we managed to preserve the original ceiling rose and much of the coving and skirting. I love having such beautiful storage for all my books in a kitchen that feels so special. When the kids are doing laps around the island, I think how lucky we are to have such an amazing amount of space.’
