SOLAR GLAZING
Mike Tuck shares his top tips and ideas
1 SOLAR CONTROL GLASS allows sunlight to pass through a window but reflects and absorbs heat to keep internal spaces cool.
2 A COATING is pre-applied to the glass; it’s ideal for south-facing windows and highly-glazed structures.
3 COLOURS used to be limited to silver, blue or brown but you can now get some good neutral colour coatings.
4 COMBINE THE POSITION of windows on the inner face of a deep window reveal and solar control glazing to effectively prevent overheating.
5 NO SPECIAL MAINTENANCE is required, and the special coating can help reduce cooling bills. It is available in different levels depending on the needs of the property.
