W hen to use your credit card

-

If used correctly and you pay back the full amount each month, there can be big benefits.

WHEN BUYING EXPENSIVE ITEMS

Thanks to section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, credit cards benefit from payment protection on purchases over £100 that debit cards do not. So if you either don’t receive delivery of an item (or worse still, your card is cloned), your credit card company is duty bound to refund you.

TO REAP REWARDS

There are a lot of credit cards that offer you rewards as you spend. For example, John Lewis & Partners and Sainsbury’s give you vouchers or loyalty card points to spend in store, while British Airways rewards Avios points for each transaction, which you can use to redeem money off (or free) flights, seat upgrades or hotel rooms.
