Making bank holiday plans

-

With bank holidays on the horizon, how are you planning to spend yours? Will you be going hard at the DIY, using those bonus hours to get a much-anticipated project completed? Or will you grab the chance to enjoy some down-time, relaxing in your favourite space at home instead? Me? I think it’ll be a bit of a mix of the two. As I write this we’re (touch wood) about to give the green light on our kitchen extension project, so I imagine our spare days may well involve a lot of dust. If the timeline shifts a bit (which I’m fully expecting it to) then I’ll be pottering at home, working on smaller projects. I’m thinking things that can be done in a day, so that I’ve still got plenty of time to enjoy the extended weekend. I can be a little over-ambitious with my ‘quick’ ideas, so I’m going to be strict with myself. After tentatively painting a wall of shelving in our snug in a bold dark grey, I’ve decided to go for it, and paint the other walls to match, so that’s definitely on my list. The gallery wall in our hallway is ready for another update. I love the idea of framing prints by painting a band of colour around them (check out Weekend Decorator on page 102 for inspiration for other small projects), so I’ll make use of some of my many paint tester pots and give that a go! If painting is involved in your next project, why not make choosing a colour easy with the Colour

Picker tool we’ve created with Dulux for idealhome.co.uk? See a colour you love, click on the image, and you’ll have the name of the closest Dulux paint shade. Simple!
