Choosing colour isn't a test...

-

A latecomer to the pink party, I’ve only just used it for the first time to paint my bedroom walls. So it stands to reason that I’ll soon be reading all about how pink has had it’s day! Will I be rushing to repaint my bedroom? Nope! I’ve found (to my surprise) that I love how the pink feels. In the mornings it’s fresh yet serene, and at the end of the day it’s got a cosy vibe that’s perfect for curling up with a good book. Nailing the colour in this room has turned it into my favourite space in the house.

Because colour is all about how it makes you feel, right? Whatever colour you choose – from neutrals to brights – if it makes you happy then that’s what counts. Choosing colour shouldn’t feel like a test – there is no right or wrong. And the great thing about a lick of paint? It’s not permanent. If you change your mind, have another go. To help you find your colour happy place, this issue is packed with inspiration. I recommend starting with the 15 brilliant colour combos shown in our free colour supplement, in partnership with Crown.

And there are plenty of other great ways to stamp your personality on your space. Holly’s house (page 21) is a perfect example – it’s full of make-you-smile style. Our style editor Nicky has been putting together some genius ideas for using wallpaper on page 72 (spoiler: it doesn’t have to go on the walls). And if it’s being outside that makes you happy (hello summer!), then it’s time to pimp up your outdoor space, whether it’s turning your patio into a summer haven (page 82), or buying the very best garden furniture (page 142).

“If it makes you feel happy that’s what counts – I’ve discovered a new love of pink! ”
