‘Hallways are often seen as transitional spaces, but we wanted to make ours a natural pause point. My approach was to decorate it as I would any other room, so I layered it with eclectic pieces, from a hat stand, which is both practical and decorative, to a wicker basket picked up on my travels. I picked out the elegant arches in pale green to draw the eye through both sets of doors. The postage stamp rug is a contemporary addition.’

“Flamingos are a recurring design motif”
‘The element of surprise features pretty strongly in our home. It might be via bold print, like the wallpaper in our cloakroom, or in the 300-kilo faux olive tree that has seemingly taking root through the Corian island in our kitchen. Like the flamingos, it catches people off-guard.’
