-

THE much anticipated Castle Hume Shop sponsored week competition brought a large turnout of members to the course.

With the fairways and greens in superb condition, the course defence came in the shape off some well-defined rough areas which required a lot of skill and timing to navigate.

Sean Kealy had no difficulty in finding the safety of the fairways as he put on a memorable and flawless performance.

A stunning driving display was backed up with a number of excellent approach shots that were complemented by a solid putting action. A 44 winning points score was signed for and a well-deserved podium spot was achieved.

In runner-up spot and taking his already polished game to another level was Fraser Mclean.

The single handicap golfer – who is no stranger to the winners’ podium – played a memorable round, recording a score of 42 points.

Completing the podium this week with a great score of 40 points was Ivan Read.

The club stalwart had one of those wonderful rounds of golf that delivered a touch of class, particularly around the greens.

In the Gross category, plus handicap golfer Danny Daly continued his amazing success with yet another stunning performance.

A final score of 36 points was recorded with ease and could have been even better as he gave himself numerous birdie opportunities that came agonisingly close to dropping into the cup.

A stunning display from the lowest handicap golfer in the club.

With the summer season coming to a close, the competition this week is very kindly sponsored by The Westville Hotel.
