Ballinamallard 3 Tristar 3
Following on from their Supercup NI adventure earlier in the summer, Ballinamallard 2008s returned to League action iagansttristar at the Bawnacre.
The young Mallards started strongly, with the midfield trio of Matthew Armstrong, Reece Byrne and Bruce Lennox controlling much of the play and new signing Aaron Ellis a dangerous outlet up front.
The first goal came from
Dylan Mccutcheon; Byrne and Ellis combing brilliantly down the right to create the opportunity and this was followed by a very well-taken debut goal for the hard-working Ellis.
The visitors tried to rally before half-time but with Matty Wilson superb between the sticks and the defensive unit, led courageously by captain Callum St Ledger, holding firm, there was to be no way through for Tristar before the break.
Having gone in two to the good, the Mallards came out for the second half and immeback diately made it three; a goalbound effort from Mccutcheon eventually finding its way into the net via the head of an unfortunate Tristar defender.
Despite being three up, the home side were never truly out of sight as a good Tristar side showed remarkable resilience to claw their way back into the game, scoring three goals to level the score.
Both sides went for the killer goal in the closing stages but despite a few moments of high drama at both ends, the points were shared.
