Kyle claims President’s Prize

PHILIP Mckenna, the President of Aughnacloy Golf Club, held his President`s Day over Friday and Saturday this year due to the number of competitor­s taking part. Friday was principall­y visitors whilst Saturday was for members of the Club.

Philip and his wife Olive were present throughout the two days greeting all competitor­s and encouragin­g them to submit good scores for the many excellent prizes provided by Philip. At the 10th tee box, they provided a hot dog and refreshmen­ts to everyone which was very welcome.

The sun shone throughout the weekend and with the course in prestige condition, it was not surprising that some excellent scores were submitted.

Full results were as follows; Lady Winner – Abigail Edwards – 47pts; Runner up – Gillian Lutton – 44pts; Third – Roisin Corry – 39pts; Ladies Front Nine – Wendy Taggart – 21pts; Ladies Back Nine – Jane Clarke – 21pts; Ladies Drive Fern Ross; Ladies Pin – Abigail Edwards; Gents Winner – Kyle Thompson – 44pts; Best Gross – Tommy Strain – Net 82; Gents Runner up – David Trimble – 41pts; Gents Third – Martin Mckenna – 40pts; Gents Past President – Evart Clarke; Gents Back Nine – Dean Marshall – 21pts; Gents Front Nine – Maurice Foster – 22pts; Gents Drive – Conor Ward; Gents Pin – Ryan Winters.

In the evening, the President, his guests and club members sat down to a delicious dinner provided by the staff of the Loft bar & Restaurant. This was followed by the presentati­on of prizes to all the winners.

President Philip congratula­ted the winners and thanked everyone who had worked so hard to make his day a success. He thanked the greens staff for presenting the course in such a good condition and welcomed his guests, some who had travelled long distances to be present and lastly thanked his wife Olive and family for their support throughout the year and over the weekend.

Captain Philip Parr congratula­ted the President on behalf of the Club members and stated that the weekend had been very enjoyable and was clearly enjoyed by all who took part. He wished President Philip every success for the remainder of the year.

Lady Captain thanked the President on behalf of the Ladies who too had enjoyed the day immensely. She congratula­ted the President on the quality of prizes on the prize table. It was very impressive. Finally, the Lady Captain presented the President`s wife Olive with a bouquet of flowers.

A social evening then followed with live music bringing another memorable day to an end at Aughnacloy Golf Club.
