-

THE Lakeland Open competition was unable to finish on Sunday September 11.

The organising committee met on Tuesday September 13 to determine a conclusion to the event.

The second round of the competition is rescheduled to Sunday October 2.

The round which took place on Sunday September 11 is cancelled with scores submitted on that day declared void (for the purpose of the competition).

The winner of the Gents midweek singles competition for Wednesday September 14 was Walter Mcfarland with 44 pts. Runner up was Callum Ramsey with 41 pts.

There will be a 4 person Team Event running from Sunday September 18 through to Thursday September 22. The competition is sponsored by Rooney’s Eurospar. The competition is open to ladies and gents in any combination. The cost is £4 per person and re-entry is permitted.

The winner of the ladies Tuesday September 13 Stableford competition was Tanya Cathcart (HC 30) with 39 points.

Tanya by her own words has returned to form a bit late in the season. Runner up was Sandra Mcelroy (HC 24) with 35 points.

The front and back 9s went to Hazel Hogg and Barbara Gates with 20 and 18 points respectively. Jennie Scholes (6th) and Tanya Cathcart (3rd) were the only two to birdie on the day.

The 9 hole Stableford competition winner was Rosemary Wylie with 15 points on C/B.

Marvellous 68 nett

The winner of the AIB 18 hole Stroke competition on Saturday September 17 was Joanne Daly (HC 22) with a marvellous 68 nett.

Joanne has been in form recently and went around the course with pars on the third, 11th, 12th, 14th and 17th and managed the only two of the day to birdie the sixth.

Runner up was Tanya Cathcart (HC29), still in form, with a 72 nett.

Third place went to Rita Mckechnie (HC 35) 73 nett on C/B. Rita is starting to feature quite a bit recently. Keep it up ladies.

The front and back 9s went to Josie Boyle 35 nett and Sandra Mcelroy 35 nett.

The T&F 4BBB competition final is tightly contested by two Fermanagh teams.

Under the very capable hands of Captain Hazel Hogg Enniskillen have had a very successful run to reach the final against our local rivals Castle Hume.

The first leg was held in Enniskillen on Sunday September 18 with, as expected, a very even result, both teams winning two matches.

Down to the wire

It will be down to the wire for the return leg in Castle Hume. Representing Enniskillen on Sunday were Patricia Durnien and Josie Boyle, Orla Foster and Jackie Crawford, Sandra Mcelroy and Deirdre Mcsorley and Hazel Hogg and and Tanya Cathcart.

The club held another mixed competition on Friday September 16.

As usual Ian Thompson was on standby. I am not sure if he remembered or forgot his clubs on this occasion, but it was another successful night.

The winning team were (DT) Davy Truesdale,

Junior captain Rory Browne and Irene Bownes.

The T&F Seniors, captained by Audrey Williamson, is rescheduled for Monday October 3.

The Ladies past captains competition will be held this Friday, September 23.

Drumhoney Open competition sponsored by Evelyn Bradshaw is scheduled for this Saturday September 24.

The members and friends of our Lady captain Helena wish her a speedy recovery following her recent surgery.

The Enniskillen Model Primary School 5K Run and Walk in memory of Shirley Rowland will take place this coming Friday September 23 at 6pm.

Participants will be walking from the school, along Castlecoole Road, to the start line which will be located just through the gates of the Castlecoole Road entrance to the National Trust estate (adjacent to Enniskillen Golf Club).

Extra caution is advised on Castlecoole road as it is likely to be extremely busy at this time.
