Man charged with attempted murder of two policemen

Fermanagh man accused of ramming three police cars with a tractor

A MAN charged with the attempted murder of two policemen has been remanded in custody.

Matthew Nolan (25), of Tattenabud­dagh Lane, Fivemileto­wn, appeared via video link at Enniskille­n Magistrate­s Court on Monday in relation to an incident on September 23 when three police cars were rammed by a tractor.

As well as the attempted murder charges, Nolan face three counts of criminal damage, and a single threat to kill charge.

Nolan is also charged with a number of driving offences including having no insurance, driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs at Main Street, Fivemileto­wn, driving whilst disqualifi­ed, having no insurance, failing to stop, remain and report an accident, as well as dangerous driving within the vicinity of Cooneen

Road, Fivemileto­wn.

The defendant only spoke to say he understood the charges against him.

A police officer told the court they could connect the accused to the charges.

With no bail applicatio­n brought by Nolan’s barrister, he was remanded in Maghaberry prison until the case is heard again on October 24.
