Carmel closes in pole position

THE ladies played out the final qualifying competition of the season this week, which was kindly sponsored by Cooneen Textiles.

Having opened the season way back in March with a first place win, Carmel Stephenson closed the golfing season with a pole position win (74 nett BB9), holding off

Maire Newman (74 nett), who was closely followed by Florrie Dundas, also with (74 nett).

Conditions were damp following overnight rain but this did not deter the ladies.

Everyone has enjoyed a wonderful season in perfect golfing conditions during the summer months.

A ‘fun’ competition will be held this Thursday, September 29, with a 3-ball Rumble.

On Saturday, the ladies will compete for the Thompson Cup – this annual competition, kindly sponsored by Gordon and Jenny Thompson, sees teams from the Town and Country play out a social match.
