Henry wins Golfer of the Year title after a tight race
PETE Henry won this year’s golfer of the year title in a tightly contested race.
He proved to be the most consistent performer throughout the season and deservedly lifted the prize.
He was pushed hard at various times but held off the opposition.
This is the first year that all sponsored competitions were included at the suggestion of George Brownrigg, who sponsored the competition.
The top ten results are as follows.
1st, Peter Henry, 58 pts; 2nd, Niall Mullan, 56 pts; 3rd, Gareth Quinn, 52 pts; 4th, Niall Teague, 51 pts; 5th, Michael Earley, 48 pts; 6th, Peter Mcglinn, 44 pts; 7th, Cathal Moore, 36 pts; 8th, Ryan Mcnelis, 35 pts; 9th, Jason Gibson, 35 pts; 10th, Adrian Mcginn, 35 pts.
This wouldn’t have been possible without the very kind sponsorship of George Brownrigg. He is a former Captain of the club and wanted this title to carry the prestige it deserves, and hopefully with this year’s changes, this has succeeded. Many thanks again to George.
We wish Plunkett Mcnelis and his GUI
Mixed Foursomes team good luck when they play Thurles in Athlone on Thursday morning in the All-ireland series.
