Fivemiletown 3 Strathroy Harps 2

Fivemiletown secured the BKYL U15 Cup with a 3-2 win over Strathroy Harps last Friday night at Youth Sport Omagh.

Strathroy bossed matters in the early stages and deservedly took the lead after ten minutes.

However, Fivemiletown started to settle into the game after this and they hit back to level after 18 minutes through Matthew Kerr. Jamie Adams hunted down the ball and squared to the edge of the box for Kerr to stroke home for 1-1.

Buoyed by this, Fivemiletown pushed for a second but they failed to add to their tally and Strathroy reasserted themselves to regain the lead before half time. Indeed, it required a number of fine saves by Fivemiletown goalkeeper Sean Mcdermott to deny Strathroy a greater lead at the break.

Fivemiletown though came out all guns blazing at the start of the second half and a great ball Cody Burke set Jacob Condell away and he weaved his way past several defenders before tucking the ball into the bottom corner on 39 minutes.

On 44 minutes great work hold up play by Adams released Condell and he was upended as he broke into the box with the referee pointing to the spot.

Up stepped Jamie Adams, and although the Strathroy keeper made a fantastic save the rebound fell back to Adams who calmly finished to put Fivemiletown into a 3-2 advantage.

After that Fivemiletown worked hard in midfield to defend their lead and they caught Strathroy several times on the counter only to be denied by the Strathroy keeper.

Strathroy piled on the pressure in the last five minutes of the contest but Fivemiletown held firm to seal the win.
