(Ballynure won 5-4 on pens)

Magheraveely fell at the first hurdle of the Irish Junior cup when they lost out on penalties to Ballynure Old Boys.

The sides could not be separated after 120 minutes of football but it was not for the lack of trying from the Fermanagh side who were kept out on numerous occasions by the Ballynure stopper.

The visitors started in determined fashion and were in front after just two minutes of play thanks to a brilliant effort from Danilo Ramos.

Ramos gathered the ball before beating a couple of defenders before hitting the top corner from 30 yards.

It was to be the only goal of the half however as Magheraveely had other chances but they were not converted, 1-0 at half-time.

Ballynure were quickly on level terms at the start of the second half through Alexander Crawford.

And it was Crawford again who put Ballynure in front.

But Magheraveely forced extra-time thank to Warren Stewart who reacted quickest to a free-kick which came back off the wall and he poked home.

Neither side could find a winner in extra-time and it went to penalties.

And it was to be Ballynure who would come out on top, scoring five of their penalties to Magheraveely’s four.
