‘Gers good form continues ahead of Junior Cup clash

Enniskillen Rangers continued their recent run of good results with a 4-1 win away to Killen Rangers.

This follows on from the 5-0 victory over Magheraveely in the league and last week’s resounding win over Kilrea United in the Junior Cup.

All the goals in the contest arrived in the first half and ‘Gers boss Kerr was delighted with his side’s first half display.

“I was very happy with the first half, there was a really good intensity to our play and to score four goals in the first 45 inutes was very pleasing.

“Obviously, you would like a better 90 minute performance but the main thing is the three points and we can now focus on the Junior Cup,” he said.

Rangers take on Belfast Celtic Reserves at the Ball Range this Saturday, and Kerr expects his side to progress.

“I would like to think that if we can put in a good performance then it is a game we should be winning and I will be expecting us to do that but I also know that it won’t be simple and we are going to have to play well,” he added.

Rangers started Saturday’s game against bottom of the table Killen well and they went on to tak the lead through Connor Rippey.

A Rangers corner was retreived by Stuart Rainey and he picked out Rippey who finished at the near post for 1-0.

There was 20 minutes on the clock when Rangers doubled their advantage as an inswinging Nathan Khan corner was met by Eoin Mcmanus who thundered a header past Paddy Morrison in the Killen goal and into the back of the net.

Rangers continued to dictate the play and it was soon three with the best goal of the day.

Richard Johnston, Jake Browne, Khan and Mcmanus were involved before Jason Cluff crossed from the left for Jordan Mcclure to head home.

And Rangers went on to make it 4-0 as Browne bagged his first league goal for the club.

Christopher Currie’s initial shot was parried away by Morrison but Rainey picked up the loose ball and squared foe Browne who tucked to the net.

Indeed, it could have been worse for Killen as Morrison pulled off a fine save to push

Johnston’s 30 yard rocket around the post.

Killen did pull a goal back late in the half through Jordan Orr to leave it 4-1 at half time.

With the points in the bag, the intensity levels dropped in the second half but Rangers were never in any trouble as they eased their way to the win.
