Local doctor calls on the Western trust to work with the community

-

A FERMANAGH doctor has called on the Western Trust and the Department of Health to unite with the local community to deal with the health challenges facing the local community.

In a letter to The Impartial Reporter, Dr. Vincent Davidson wrote: “Our community has endured many years of uncertainty around the sustainability of various local services at SWAH (South West Acute Hospital).

“The anxiety this has raised is increased by a persistent lack of candour shown by the Western Health and Social Care

Trust Executive in its attempts to deal with the challenges it faces on our community’s behalf.”

He has called for a

“whole system review” and believes that health and social care trusts are no longer an efficient way of delivering services.

Calling on the Trust to engage with the community, Dr. Davidson further wrote: “However, without the full and candid cooperation of the Trust Executive, this would be a very difficult task,” before adding that the Trust should join local action groups “as an equal partner concerned with the retention of local services at SWAH”.
