A FRAUDSTER who racked up a bill of more than £600 at a local hotel has been handed a three-month prison sentence.

It was heard at Enniskillen Magistrates Court how a report was made to police of a man staying at the Manor House Hotel who had used fraudulent card details to book the room.

The hotel had been made aware of the situation by the card owner who saw the transaction on his banking app.

The court heard that police went to Room 214 and knocked on the door. It was opened by David Moran (33), of Bridge Street, Irvinestown.

When asked if he was the owner of the credit card, he

He said he received a video which recorded the front and back of the credit card, and he admitted he knew he was booking the room fraudulently

replied: “No, I’m David Carson.” His partner was also in the room at the time.

Moran was arrested on suspicion of fraud and a search of the hotel room was carried out, from which a Nokia phone was seized.

During an interview, Moran made full admissions. He said he received a video which recorded the front and back of the credit card, and he admitted he knew he was booking the room fraudulently.

However, he refused to tell the police who sent him the video, or the pin, for his phone.

Moran’s solicitor, Michael Fahy, said his client should be given full credit for his admission of guilt and plea at the first opportunity.

Mr. Fahy added that his client had no criminal record in this jurisdiction, and had spent 27 days in custody for the offence.

For the offence of fraud by false representation, Moran was given the three-month sentence, and ordered to pay £610.30 to the Manor House.
