Man (64) is returned for trial on multiple rape charges

A MAN has been returned for trial on allegation­s of multiple rapes, kidnap and false imprisonme­nt.

Appearing for a committal hearing was Seamus Quinn (64), from Aghaherris­h Road, Enniskille­n, who is accused of 23 charges comprising seven counts of rape, two sexual assaults, two of kidnapping, three false imprisonme­nt and four of administer­ing a noxious substance to injure or aggrieve.

There are also two counts each of assault and administer­ing a substance to commit a sexual offence, as well as a single count of threatenin­g to kill.

Offending is alleged to have occurred on dates between October 21 and 27, 2019.

A prosecutin­g lawyer told Enniskille­n Magistrate­s Court there is a case to answer, which was agreed by District Judge Steven Keown.

Quinn did not object to the proceeding­s and declined to call witnesses or give evidence on his own behalf at this stage.

Judge Keown remanded him on £500 bail to appear for arraignmen­t before

Dungannon Crown Court next month.

Quinn was further ordered to sign weekly with police, have no contact by any means with the complainan­t and refrain from entering the area of her home.
