A comprehensive win for Skins’ U-14s

-

ENNISKILLEN U-14s made the long bus trip to Carndonagh in dry but blustery conditions.

Both teams shared possession of the ball for the first period of the game but were unable to make a decisive move.

On eight minutes, the deadlock was broken with a line break from Natalie Turner, linking up with Cara Brock feeding Rowena Kells who beat her opposite winger on the outside to score a classy try.

Alice Seaney kept her nerve and slotted over her first conversation of the day.

Skins spent the next five minutes in their own half and, to their credit, saw superb defence from the whole team, but in particular Lilly-ella Morrison, Abigail Kernaghan, Eva Fowler and Captain Jessica Kingston repelled the North West attack and Skins began to get the upper hand in the game.

Skins went on to assert constant pressure, offloading in the tackle and scored five tries from Karla Crozier (2), Rowena, Mia Mcgrath and Natalie

Turner.

Seaney, who was having an outstanding game in loose play and defence, calmly converted another two of the tries to make it 0-36 at half time.

Olivia Coyle entered the fray in the second half and kept the Skins forward pack providing quick ball to Crozier who had moved to out half.

Soon after, the Skins’ forwards set a powerful driving maul from a line-out that resulted in a try in the corner for Turner.

This try was straight off the training ground, and coach Phil would have been very pleased.

From the resultant kick-off, Turner received a long kick, juggled the ball and showed a clean pair of heels running from her 22 to get her hat trick.

Skins were now in complete control, and Abbie Mccarthy-magwood’s determination at the breakdown was rewarded with a fine try.

Player of the Match Seaney’s fine kicking display continued, leaving the final score 0-55.
