Casey Howe played her part as Glentoran secured a fourth Women’s Challenge Cup in a row with a 2-1 win over Sion Swifts Ladies at the National Football Stadium at Windsor Park.

Howe has battled her way back from a serious knee injury to get herself back into contention and was introduced in the 57th minute for Rachel Rogan.

And the Fermanagh player was a lively presence after coming as she caused problems for the Sion rearguard.

In the end, goals from Jessica Foy and Joely Andrews were enough to seal the win for the Glens.

edged out a strong Portadown side at the Lakeland Forum on Saturday morning to record back to back league wins.

A lethargic and disjointed first half performance allowed the visitors to get a foothold in the game, with only the superb Rhys Mcgourty and the steadfast centre half pairing of Callum St Ledger and Conor Deazely standing between the Ports and an advantage bigger than the 1-0 they took into the break.

The Mallards regrouped in some style at half time, putting in a second period performance filled with belief, tenacity and purpose.

The equaliser came from St Ledger’s absolute determination to get his head on a corner and the winner came courtesy of a signature driving run from Aaron Ellis that ended with Sean Reilly expertly side-footing home.
