‘Tickled Pink’ to fight cancer

-

ASDA Enniskillen staff came together recently to fundraise for the Asda ‘Tickled Pink’ campaign, that funds worldclass research, life-changing support, and vital breast awareness information to help change the future of breast cancer in the UK.

Asda Enniskillen Community Champion Simon Harron hosted a face-painting and fancy dress day in store, and staff from all departments got involved.

Laura Burns, produce section leader at Asda Enniskillen, dressed up as ‘Joker’ and put her artistic skills to the test as she spent the day painting the faces of numerous customers.

As part of a campaign to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month throughout all of October, Asda’s ‘Tickled Pink’ camaign aimed to show NI men and women how regular chest and breast checks can be as normal as their Asda shop.

Now in its 26th year, the Asda Tickled Pink campaign also aimed to raise awareness and funds for Breast Cancer charities – Breast Cancer Now and Coppafeel!

As part of this year’s campaign, Asda customers doing their shopping saw important reminders that all men and women should become ‘Real Self-checkers’ – this included pink till receipts, point-of-sale information with real case studies, signs and symptoms leaflets, and a large car park banner.

The annual campaign is the longest-running UK charity partnership, and over the past 26 years has raised more than £77 million, to date.

Simon Harron, Community Champion at Asda Enniskillen, said:“we had a great morning getting involved in the Asda Tickled Pink campaign!

“It is so important to raise awareness for such a worthy cause, and we had such a laugh.

“Lots of kids dressed up and they were keen to get their faces painted – I even got mine painted, as I didn’t want to miss out on the fun.this is such an important cause; we always like to do our bit.’’
