Lisnarick edge win in nine-goal thriller

Lisnarick 5 Enniskillen Galaxy 4

FOUR goals from Daire Gallagher gave Lisnarick their first league points of the season in a thrilling 5-4 victory over Enniskillen Galaxy. Niall Amos’ team looked to be cruising to their maiden league win when a Gallagher hat-trick gave them a 3-0 lead at half time, but Galaxy produced a secondhalf fightback to level the scores before Gallagher’s dramatic lastminute winner.

The Lisnarick manager admitted it was a game of two contrasting halves, but he was delighted that the late goal went in their favour this week after they had lost to an injury time goal the previous weekend.

“I felt Galaxy deserved something from the game, to be honest, the way they played in the second half,” he admitted.

“We were cruising at half time. I thought after the first ten minutes we settled and dominated the first half completely.

“For us to be 3-0 up at half time and not win would have been a complete disaster, because you have to see those games out.

“That is our first points all year and it is about confidence and learning how to win a game and learn how to win right, but that is going to take time and I don’t know if we have enough time left.

Galaxy Manager Daniel Mcintyre felt the rollercoaster nature of the game was a reflection of their season so far.

“I think the season was summed up by Saturday’s game,” he said.

“We have played really well in spells and really poorly in spells, especially away from home. I said to the boys after the game that if we continue to play the way we did in the second half I think we will be fine because we have six home games out of the eight left, but if we continue to play like we did in the first half then we will be in huge trouble.”

After a bright start from Galaxy, Lisnarick took the lead after 14 minutes when Gallagher slotted home. Ten minutes later, Gallagher blasted in a free kick from 25 yards, and he then nipped in at the front post just before half time to glance a corner past the keeper.
