Worker’s ‘disgust’ and ‘fury’ as BT contact centre job mistakenly advertised on recruitment site
DESPITE workers in Enniskillen being offered a voluntary paid leavers scheme by the BT Group last month, the telecoms giant advertised a job in its contact centre over the weekend. A job for a service guide role in the call centre was posted on the website Glassdoor on Friday, March 8 and was removed on Monday morning. A letter sent to The Impartial Reporter from an employee expressed “fury’” and “disgust” at the job advert appearing for the EE Contact Centre “while workers continue to fight to save their jobs”.
The letter stated: “Another reminder that the company’s priority is not the ‘welfare of staff’ to allow this to happen and rub further salt in already open wounds.”
It is understood that the job post was auto-triggered in error by BT and the advertisement was removed when BT were made aware of its posting.
When asked for a comment on the matter and the future of the Enniskillen Contact Centre, a BT Group spokesperson said: “BT Group is undertaking an ambitious modernisation programme and consolidating buildings within its estate. We are currently reviewing our contact centre in Enniskillen and have offered colleagues the opportunity to take our voluntary paid leavers package. No decision has been made on the future of our Enniskillen contact centre.
