LISBELLAW inflicted just a third league defeat for Enniskillen Town this season with Sam Lindsay and Scott Moutray netting in the final 20 minutes – with the latter also missing a penalty in between the goals. The win means Kyle Mccleery’s side are also well in the hunt for the Mercer League with games in hand over the teams above them.

“I feel that despite not playing well in the first half, we were very unlucky to be 1-0 down at the break,” Mccleery said after the game.

“Second half we were much better and I felt overall we deserved the win. We have a lot of injuries and suspensions mounting up at the minute but to get the three points shows the strength and depth we have in the squad.”

The home side started on the front foot on Saturday and had a chance to go in front early on but Sam Lindsay’s header, from a Nathan Graham cross, was stopped by Town goalkeeper Gary Doherty.

There was little between the sides in the opening half but Jamal Tavares’s goal on the stroke of half time gave the away side the advantage going into the break.

A Lisbellaw free kick was cleared, and Town broke with Tavares being played through on goal and he finished neatly to make it 1-0. Scott Moutray drew the game level with just under 20 minutes to play at Drumad when Paul Mcgrath knocked the ball down and Moutray’s initial shot was saved before he flicked it over the line with the forward lying on the ground.

The hosts had the chance to go in front just moments later when Michael Simpson brought down Mccleery, however, Doherty got down low to deny Moutray a second from the spot kick.

Lisbellaw weren’t to be denied a winner, though, as Moutray was played in behind with under 10 minutes to go and he seemed to have been brought down for another penalty but Lindsay was there to pick up the loose ball and slot the winner to deliver a statement win for his side as they finished the game with 10 men after Jamie Coalter’s late dismissal.
