Enniskillen Rangers 4 Magheraveely 1

ENNISKILLEN Rangers put four past Magheraveely at the Peace Link Centre on Saturday to go top of the Mercer League after Enniskillen Town lost to Lisbellaw.

Magheraveely are without a win since mid-december as they find themselves in a four-horse relegation battle, with a trip to Drumad up next at the weekend.

Rangers sit top of the pile for now, however, manager Micky Kerr will be well aware of the threat carried by the other five teams in contention for this season’s title.

“Overall, I felt we were excellent for the 90 minutes,” Kerr said after last weekend’s win.

“We took five to 10 minutes to adjust to the size of the pitch but after this, we completely dominated. We used the size of the pitch to our advantage and were well worth 3-0 at half time.

“The second-half subs all played their part, and it was half-time sub Burleigh who got our fourth.

“Delighted with the three points as it isn’t an easy place to go and come away with the three points.”

Jordan Mcclure, Ciaran Smith and Joel Byrne scored first-half goals to put Rangers in control before they found a fourth after the restart. A free kick from range was drilled back across goal for Mcclure to tap home and open the scoring on 20 minutes and the second followed on the half-hour mark.

A cross into the box was controlled by Smith before he found the roof of the net to double his side’s lead.

Byrne added the third as he pounced on a loose ball in front of goal five minutes before the interval. Rangers substitute William Burleigh found the bottom-left corner of the net – after some good play down the right wing – only three minutes into the second half to put the result beyond doubt.

However, the home side did pull a goal back five minutes later as Smith was dispossessed in the middle of the park which led to Danilo Machado Ramos drilling the ball into the bottom-left corner from the edge of the box to add a consolation.
