Specsavers Bonanza Day and The Bridie Mccaffrey Memorial Trophy

What a sp Alongside the Specsavers Bonanza Day this year we saw the inaugural Bridie Mccaffrey Memorial Trophy introduced by her family in memory of our much loved and respected past Lady Captain who lives on in the hearts and minds of so many in this club but also in all the people far and wide who knew her.

This was reflected by the many clubs who attended this year’s special event.

We thank Specsavers for their continued generous sponsorship and also a special mention to Erne Pharmacy for the goody bags which delighted the participants.

Ladies section:it

was fitting, given the day, that the top spot for the ladies went to Bridie’s sister, Veronica Bogue (Enniskillen), with a terrific score of 37pts; 2nd place Florrie Dundas 33pts; 3rd place Patricia Durnian 32 pts; 4th place Thecla Jones 31 pts (bb9); Longest drive Josie

Boyle (Enniskillen) Nearest the Pin was won by Julie Blair. The front and back nine prizes were won by Ursula Donnelly (18pts) and Lorraine Bridge (18pts) respectively.

Men’s section:

As in the ladies section, it was fitting that it was Bridie’s brother in law, Sean Bogue (Enniskillen) who came up trumps with a fantastic 42pts to lift the first prize; 2nd place Neil Mcconnell 38 pts (bb9); 3rd place Jarlath Mcsharry 38pts (bb6); 4th place Captain Davy Mcquade 38 pts; front nine - Sean Moore with 21pts; Declan Mooreback nine prize with 20pts; Longest drive Jarlath Mcsharry; Nearest the pin Paul O’connor;

As the top points scorer of both sections, Sean was to be awarded the Bridie Mccaffrey Memorial Trophy but as it was his wife who won the ladies section he requested that they share the trophy.

One couldn’t write the script – it was written in the stars! Rest in peace Bridie.
