A feast of cultural delights at the Ardhowen Theatre

-

THERE is plenty of offer for everyone at the Ardhowen Theatre this week, with everything from music to art to hard-hitting drama in store.

The Ardhowen will welcome for the first time on Thursday, May 16, The Scottish Fiddle Orchestra, which is renowned for its enchanting performances of traditional Scottish music.

Fresh from a memorable concert at the historic Ulster Hall, the orchestra will bring an unforgettable evening of Scottish heritage, weaving a musical tapestry that resonates with passion and purpose.

Don’t miss this chance to experience the orchestra’s spellbinding melodies.

On Saturday morning at 10am, Fermanagh Art Club will be hosting lessons in the studio for children.

In a two-hour workshop, they will guide participants through a painting, and they will go home with their very own piece of art to treasure.

The workshop is led by an experienced qualified teacher and working artist, who promises a warm welcome and plenty of paint, so come along and learn how to make a unique painting in this workshop that’s for children aged between 6 to 14 years old.

Also taking place on May 18, the evening will see Donegal Drama Circle take to the stage with ‘Blackbird’, by David Harrower.

In the play, Una has tracked down Ray to his place of work 15 years after they had an illicit relationship, back when Una was just 12 and Ray was 28 years her senior.

Una is searching for answers after Ray left her in the lurch, while Ray has been trying to forget about the affair.

What ensues is a hardhitting and uneasy conversation, filled with anger, regret, sadness and loss, in a performance that is for ages 16-plus, with strong language and the sexual abuse of a minor discussed in this hard-hitting play.
