Mini double boilie rig

Rather than fishing boilies similar to the majority of other anglers, why not give carp something different to deal with?

-

WHEN it comes to boilie fishing, most anglers do it in a similar fashion. A kilo or two of 15mm freebies will be catapulted or sticked out around a feature and then a pop-up hookbait with a small PVA bag of crushed boilies or pellets will be cast over the top. It’s a tactic that has been the downfall of countless carp but imagine how many fish, especially at busy day-ticket lakes, have encountered this scenario and treat it with increased caution. You don’t have to do anything drastically different with your presentation to get a carp to drop its guard. Something as simple as changing the size of the boilies may be all that is needed. This rig has been tied to incorporate a couple of 12mm bottom baits. You could bet good on the fact that carp in your lake won’t have had to deal with a presentation like this for a long time. The hook is a long shank size 8 pattern. Carp find this style of hook incredibly hard to deal with, but for some reason they are often ignored by many carpers in favour of more fashionable patterns. The short section of shrink tubing helps the hook to flip and catch hold but it shouldn’t extend past the point of the hook as this will reduce the gape and effect its hooking ability. This rig can be fished over a spread of boilies or particles or cast out with a mesh PVA bag filled with 12mm baits.
