WELCOME to the latest issue of IYCF. A fews day ago on Facebook a picture popped up from this time last year from a carp session I’d been on where it was mild enough to wear a T-shirt. Yet as I write this we’re gripped in the teeth of what has been billed as ‘The Beast from the East’ by the national press with temperatures barely above freezing and snow falling. Fingers crossed by the time this issue actually hits the shelves it will be starting to warm up. It’s already notably lighter in the evenings and if it wasn’t for the Arctic conditions spring would feel a lot closer. So, what have we got in store for you in this month’s IYCF? There’s loads of great bait advice you can use to stack the odds in your favour during what can sometimes be a tricky time of year. Adam Rooney (page 24) looks at some most popular methods of attaching your hookbaits and in which situation you should use them. Dale Calvert (page 40) explains why white coloured baits are so successful and Andy May (page 58) reveals why he’s been adding crushed boilies to his groundbait mix. We had some great feedback from readers about Des Shipp’s new Fish Better series and in this month’s piece he breaks down the loosefeeding process and explains how you can be more accurate (page 64). The other highlight of this month is The Big One show taking place in Farnborough on March 24th-25th. There’ll be loads of new gear for you to get your hands on and all the IYCF team will be there if you want to come over and say hello. See you next month!
