FOR FISHING THE LOWER SEVERN
Look for signs of fish. Barbel here leap clear of the water. If you see them, move onto them.
Travel light to make moving less of a task. The more you carry the less likely you are going to want to move. Moving to showing fish can be the difference between catching or not.
Use small particles such as hemp and corn to attract barbel and keep them in the swim. Add oils and flavoured liquids to give them more pulling power.
Big hooks and baits will help to keep the smaller fish at bay while you wait for the barbel to show up.
Use a bait-dropper to introduce loosefeed. The river here is very deep so a bait-dropper will make sure all your bait reaches the bottom accurately.
Last but not least fish accurately using yard sticks or by walking your rigs out. This will increase your success rate tenfold.
