Fishing the Method
Look for the fish and target a suitable area – don’t just chuck and expect to haul. The Method is good, but it’s not magic! I will usually make three to four casts an hour – more than most carpers make in 48 hours! This enables me to slowly build the swim, but still leaves enough time for the fish to find the hookbait without being spooked by disturbance. The Method presents the loosefeed hard on the bottom, unlike spodding, which ‘rains’ it through the water column. This sees a totally different presentation, as there is no chance of pulling fish up in the water. With a mid-thirty and countless 20lb-plus fish to my name, anyone who still thinks the Method is a small-fish tactic really should take another look at this incredible approach.
