DAIWA’s TDR has always been a benchmark for top quality match fishing reels. Adorning the rods of many of the country’s top competition anglers, it is quite probably the company’s best-ever selling model, proving to be reliable and durable. The brand new 18 TDR models retain the iconic blue livery of the original but boast a raft of improvements and new features. Using technology from the LT (light and tough) models, Daiwa has managed to reduce the weight of what was already a lightweight reel. The 2508 and 3012 sizes are available in single and double handle versions while the 4012 is only available with a single handle. All handle types are one-touch folding and each model comes supplied with a spare spool. The 2508 is ideal for delicate float and light feeder work, and the 3012 is a great all-rounder lending itself to both float and general feeder tactics. The 4012 is the biggest of the three and is designed as an out and out feeder fishing reel with a gear ratio of 4.9:1 to cranks in 87cm of line per turn of the handle – perfect for retrieving feeders from range. Other new specifications include a tough ABS spool, soft-touch handle, and a super smooth DS5 rotor system. The number of bearings has also been increased to 8 in the single handle versions and 9 in the double handles to deliver and even smoother performance. These have been added to existing features that have been carried on from the previous Team TDR version including the spring loaded High Impact Line Clip (HIP) which enables you to cast accurately without fear of damaging your line. The Quick Drag system provides you with maximum control over any hooked fish and is easy to adjust.
