Improve Your Coarse Fishing (UK)

Welcome from the Editor...

THANKS for purchasing this issue of IYCF. I don’t know about you, but I’m glad that we’re finally on the right side of winter. Snowdrops and daffodils are starting to appear which means spring is only just around the corner. Prior to winter I always have a romantic view of the season but after a couple of months of sitting out in the cold the novelty of quieter banks soon wears off for me! As much as I love a few hours perching in the winter, I can’t wait for the temperatures to rise and the tench to wake up. Only a few weeks to go! Also on the horizon is the first of this year’s two Big One Shows. Taking place in Farnborough on March 23rd and 24th it’s looking set to be a great event with loads of the sport’s biggest brands and top anglers in attendance. Personally, I can’t wait to hear Terry Hearn’s talk. He’s one of angling ’s best story tellers, whether that’s writing or talking in front of a camera, and he’s caught fish that most of us can only dream of. These shows are also a great opportunity to meet readers so hopefully I’ll see a few of you there. This month’s issue comes off sale just a couple of days before the end of the river season. If you’re planning on tackling a running water venue in the coming weeks, we’ve got some great features to get your river juices flowing! Phil Taylor reveals the little known Lincolnshire venue home to some cracking roach (page 14) and Martin Barnatt explains how you can boost your cheesepaste for chub (page 44). See you next month!
