LAST- MINUTE FUN

SEAN BROWNE, EMAIL

On a wild and windy Sunday in March a friend asked if I wanted a quick session on a venue I hadn't been to before, South Creake Fisheries in north Norfolk. Looking at the driving wind, rain and hail I thought he must be mad but, being equally daft, I thought, why not?

Rummaging around I found two baits, sweetcorn and some new fangled Adrenaline mix and go pellets. Buddy arrived and off we set.

We found some cover in swims with trees at our back. I used an inline Method feeder and cast. At this point the wind changed and the worst hail was driving straight in our faces. I could barely see the water and my mate had the most amazing, hilarious and bizarre fight with his brolly while standing waist deep in water!

I jumped up to help but my rod tugged hard to the left in my hand. "Sorry mate, I'm on," I shouted. Eight minutes later I had my pb mirror in my net. The sun burst through the clouds and I got my pictures. Frozen, soaked through and laughing like a pair of idiots we carried on and had a beast of a day.

We both caught carp, bream, tench and a very good rudd; all on corn and a Method pellet mix. The joys of fishing are not just from those long planned trips but also on those spur- of- themoment sessions.
