Daiwa TDR Distance reel
FEEDER fishing has increased massively in popularity in recent years and many feeder- only events are now staged on large natural stillwaters. In response to this, Daiwa has introduced a new Distance Feeder Special to the TDR range.
The reel has the iconic blue TDR body and is packed with features to help deliver long and accurate casting. It has a 25mm stroke and a super- shallow 65mm spool. This means the rotations of line released on any given cast are reduced, which requires less energy but adds to the distance achieved.
The new ‘ LC’ spool features a double lip profile to reduce line friction, while still controlling the line corridor. The spool can also handle braided mainlines without slippage or tangles.
Daiwa reckons that the combined benefits of all the above features will result in a five per cent increase in casting distance, no matter what your style.
The geared down ratio of 4.7: 1 ensures there is plenty of winding power, and the reel still winds an impressive 96cm of line for every turn of the handle.
Distance control is managed through the HIP – High Impact Line Clip – and switching between a freerunning spool and drag selection is made easy by the QD Quick Drag, which is an invaluable asset on big- carp lakes. A 70mm machined aluminium wishbone handle not only looks fantastic, but offers ‘ wind down’ locking to ensure maximum power transmission when retrieving heavy leads from a long way out. www. daiwasports.co.uk
