Broc­co­latte to go?

Yes, re­ally. An Aus­tralian-based com­pany called Hort In­no­va­tion has de­vel­oped a new food pow­der made of nely ground dried broc­coli. It was tested at a Mel­bourne café where baris­tas added it to es­presso and steamed milk. Much the same as in its veg­gie form, the ‘broc­co­latte’ was met with some mixed re­views, but the cre­ators says it’s a good way to in­crease our veg in­take, as well as re­duc­ing food waste, as the pow­der is made from ‘ugly broc­coli’ that would oth­er­wise be thrown away. We think we’ll give it a go with some of our leftover greens – once we’ve saved some for bub­ble and squeak, that is.
