CRITIC’S CHOICE
PICK OF THE DAY Love Triangle
10pm, Channel 4
Another new dating show, but before anyone rolls their eyes heavenwards it should be noted that this one is from the makers of Married At First Sight Australia – the Aussie original often considered to be the best of the international versions by MAFS aficionados. In fact, it’s a sort of blend between that show and Love Is Blind, as one singleton exchanges text messages with two potential suitors. She (in this case teaching assistant Jasmine, left) must then pick one suitor, sight unseen, to move in with – before being joined later by the rejected suitor. It’s a genuinely interesting concept, and the results of this “threesome” are being described as “explosive”.
=== Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr
8pm, BBC One
The semi-final sees Ben, Matt and Roisin head to Wembley Arena, where they are tasked to revamp backstage dressing rooms for the stars (or as Michelle Ogundehin puts it: “Five-star spaces for five-star people”). While Ben goes theatrical with an all-white 1930s-style dressing room, Matt chooses contemporary hotel vibes and Roisin opts for botanicals. Helping judge the results is Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
=== Aldi’s Next Big Thing
8pm, Channel 4
This slightly addictive shopping version of Dragons’ Den continues with Aldi executives listening to pitches from the makers of a cocoafree confectionery bar, a protein chocolate that promises to make the consumer more beautiful (too good to be true?), super-strong CBD gummies and a toffee cauldron concept that gives a modern take on a traditional sweet favourite.
=== The Yorkshire Vet
8pm, Channel 5
A new run of one of Channel 5’s biggest hits, as vet Peter Wright faces a difficult lambing at an old friend’s farm. At Donaldson’s animal hospital in Huddersfield, meanwhile, Rohin Aojula is under pressure when he has to sedate a well-loved pot-bellied pig and Matt Smith treats a hawk with painful legs.
=== Changing Ends
8.30pm, ITV1
Alan Carr’s sweet, 1980s-set autobiographical comedy sees the young Alan (the superb Oliver Savell) arriving at big school. “Don’t get distracted by girls,” advises dad Graham (Shaun Dooley), still oblivious to his son’s real interests – which also don’t include sports and the rough-and-tumble of the playground. In fact, Alan prefers hanging out with the dinner ladies.
=== Glitter: The Popstar Paedophile
9pm, ITV1
Exploring the dual life of performer and predatory abuser Gary Glitter, documenting his crimes against children committed both in the UK
