SHIRLEY IS COMING HOME TO HEARTACHE…

- Laura-jayne Tyler

The Carters prepare to welcome Shirley home from prison this week – but the clan won’t feel the same as when she left them.

Her son Mick has just left the Square on a mission of mercy to help his daughter Nancy, so it looks as if

Shirley will have to face the death of her mother Sylvie without his support.

Stars Linda Henry and Luisa Bradshawwhite, who play Shirley and Tina, were among the Eastenders cast members who were recently spotted filming scenes rumoured to be Sylvie’s funeral, following her tragic demise…

“It’s been one terrible blow after another for the Carters, and Sylvie’s passing is sure to knock them for six,” sighs our Eastenders insider. “Tina especially will take the news hard. She’s been doing everything she can to take care of her mum lately.”

be reprising the role of Sonia for the sombre episodes. Tina’s ex is currently in Kettering, but will no doubt want to pay her respects to Sylvie – whom she nursed and cared for when they were living together.

Meanwhile, there is no sign of Sylvie’s grandson Mick, who recently had to fly to Bulgaria after his daughter Nancy was in a car accident. However, star Danny Dyer, who plays the Queen Vic landlord, is back in the UK following his recent holiday to South Africa. So could Mick make it back in time to bid farewell to Sylvie?

“At a time like this, the Carters will need to be more united than ever,” insists our spy. “If Mick is unable to return, the responsibility will fall to Shirl to be strong for the clan.”

Shirley is currently in prison, with her family desperate for her to be released. Tina pays her sister a visit this week to discuss recent events, but with Shirley knowing she hasn’t been there when her loved ones have needed her most, will she be able to cope?

Sweetly, local man Konrad has already thought of the perfect welcome home gift for Shirl, and shows Tina the bottle of vodka he hopes to give her. But will all go to plan on the day of Shirley’s release? Or will she be forced to attend her mother’s funeral in handcuffs?
