Rakesh’s arson secret exposed!
AFTER DRUNKEN JIMMY BLABS, THE COPS WILL BE LOOKING FOR ANSWERS…
Rakesh faces the wrath of the village this week, when he is finally exposed as the arsonist behind the Mill fire – after Jimmy makes a severe error of judgement.
Following a fight with wife Nicola – who was caught up in the blaze and suffered serious injuries – Jimmy heads to the pub to drown his sorrows. Things get out of hand as the drinks flow, and suddenly Jimmy blurts out the secret he has been hiding for months. Although Nicola might be a victim of Rakesh’s crime, she and Jimmy have failed to report what they discovered to the boys in blue. So, it’s probably not a good idea for him to drunk-dial the police after all this time…
“Jimmy has opened a can of worms now!” warns Nick Miles, who plays the feckless fella. “Kerry gets Jimmy slaughtered, and becomes quite manipulative – persuading him to do something that he actually shouldn’t.”
FIGHTING TALK
Nicola and Jimmy’s initial argument erupts when she blames him for revealing her secret phobia to her factory colleagues. Her co-workers take great delight in playing pranks on her – but after one goes a bit too far, Nicola ends up at loggerheads with boss Jai, and she finds herself fired. After she gets home, she and Jimmy have a blazing row, and he storms off to the pub…
“It is basically all Jimmy’s fault,” laughs Nick. “After he tells the whole pub that Rakesh started the fire, Jimmy phones 999 and says it all again to the police! He wakes up with a terrible hangover the next morning, realises what he’s done and desperately tries to stop Nicola going to the factory. He knows she’s walking into a world of pain!”
BRINGING IN THE COPS!
Jimmy’s actions have huge repercussions not only for Rakesh, but Nicola, too. She marches back into the factory, wrongly believing that she’s still able to blackmail the Sharmas over the cover-up

and get her job back. But Jai soon lets her know that Jimmy has wrecked it all, and it’s not only Rakesh who’s in hot water – the Kings also face a barrage of questions from the local constabulary.
“Jimmy and Nicola are now accessories in this crime,” explains Nick. “The police are going to come knocking on their door, and it’s looking very difficult for them.”
Jimmy is going to have a lot of explaining to do – to his wife and to the police. But Nick is praying that this won’t be the final blow that ends the marriage between these two.
“It’s just great to see a couple in soap who try to stick it out, as that’s what most of us do,” grins the star. “I don’t know what the future holds for them, but given they’ve got such a big family and so much together, let’s hope they stay together.”
