The truth about Ryan’s mystery woman ‘K’ finally comes out this week – only, it’s not a woman at all. It’s Kyle!
Viewers will learn the details of the pair’s secret fling during a confrontation in the toilets of the Dog. And it turns out Ryan has lots more skeletons in his closet waiting to tumble out…
“Ryan’s a dirty dog!” laughs Duncan James, who plays him. “But I’m not complaining – I’ve been snogging Adam Rickitt [Kyle] and Jen Metcalfe [Mercedes]! I quite enjoy going into work and having a snog.”
But while it’s all fun and games for Duncan, the same can’t be said for Ryan! His late wife Amy is barely cold, and he has already been having secret rendezvous with Mercedes – which is why he’s keen to keep that affair under wraps.
“Ryan doesn’t want people to know that he’s jumped back into bed with Mercedes straight after Amy has died – that wouldn’t look good,” admits Duncan. “It makes things look a bit suspicious, and points the finger at Ryan potentially being Amy’s murderer.”
But that’s not the only thing that has raised the suspicions of viewers. We’ve seen him receiving a series of threatening texts from someone simply known as ‘K’, who until now, we’ve assumed was another woman. But it turns out we were completely off track!
“There’s a moment in the toilet cubicles between Ryan and Kyle, and it all gets a little bit steamy!” reveals Ryan.
“They definitely have history, and there’s a lot of tension between them, especially when Ryan discovers that Kyle is back in Hollyoaks. He doesn’t want Kyle to be anywhere near him, as he’s desperate to avoid certain truths being exposed.
“But just as Ryan walks out of the toilet he sees Scott standing there – and it’s the dread of, has Scott just heard what’s been going on between them? Will he decide to tell Mercedes? There’s a lot of anguish and anxiety for Ryan in that particular moment.”
Given that he’s been lying and cheating left, right and centre, we really can’t rule out Ryan when it comes to Amy’s murder. And Duncan agrees that things don’t look good for his wicked alter ego.
“There are a lot of question marks around Ryan right now, and this has put him right back as the focus of the whodunnit!” he teases. “If he was capable of cheating on his wife on their wedding day, then getting back together with Mercedes so quickly, did he really love Amy? What else is going on?
“So many people have been talking about this storyline, which is great,” adds Duncan. “I’ll be out doing my shopping and people will say to me, ‘Go on, tell us who killed Amy!’. But even I don’t know if Ryan did it yet – the producers are still keeping it under wraps!”
