Thanks for the MEMORIES!

lnsidesoap WE OPEN THE ARCHIVES AND REMEMBER SOME OF OUR FAVOURITE PHOTO SHOOTS…

-

Bill Tarmey, Liz Dawn & Denise Welch Jack & Vera Duckworth, Natalie Barnes 1998

Natalie’s wedding to Des Barnes was a cause for celebration – and a chance for Jack to steal a cheeky kiss! Sadly, we lost Bill back in 2012, but Liz made a guest appearance in Emmerdale in 2015,

and Denise has hardly been off of our screens since leaving the Street in 2000. As well as featuring in many television dramas, the star has also appeared in reality shows and worked as a presenter.

Jane Danson Leanne Battersby 2000

We thought we were giving Jane a treat when we asked her if she fancied taking part in this choc-tastic Easter shoot – but we got rather a surprise when we turned up on the day and found out she’d given up the sweet stuff for Lent! She kept her vow, and resisted the choccy delights for the three hours it took to complete the shoot.

Samia Ghadie Maria Sutherland 2000

After we asked Samia to be our Wonder Woman for a stars dress-up feature, she’d never heard of the superhero, stating her favourite female hero was She-ra from Masters Of The

Universe! These days Wonder Woman is big news, thanks to the blockbuster movie starring Gal Gadot. Maybe we should ask Samia to bring Inside Soap up to date, and pose for us in the modern-day outfit!

Jack P Shepherd David Platt 2001

When 13-year-old Jack won Best Young Actor at the Inside Soap Awards, little did we know how central he would go on to be in the Street over the coming years. ‘Cheeky scamp’ David soon made way for ‘teenage angst’ David, followed by ‘psycho’ David, then ‘family man’ David. These days, Jack gets to play all of them at once as one of Corrie’s most complex characters.

Party on! 2010

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Corrie, we arranged a Street party to end all Street parties. Some 21 cast members joined us

for our fantastic pull-out feature, which to this day is still our biggest ever photo shoot – and has been on display in the Inside Soap office ever since!

Jack P Shepherd & Michelle Keegan David Platt & Tina Mcintyre 2008

Michelle had only been on the Street a month when we commissioned a shoot with her and Jack for our Valentine’s issue – and when we saw this pic, we knew Michelle was heading for big things. Sadly, Tina and David’s love story came to an end – as did Tina’s time in Weatherfield when she was murdered in 2014.

Nicholas Cochrane & Simon Gregson Andy & Steve Mcdonald 1992

Look at those mischievous little faces! Inside Soap caught up with the Mcdonald twins in their early years on the show, when they were up to all sorts of teen high jinks.

We don’t see much of Andy in Weatherfield these days – he’s living life in the sun – but Steve is still up to no good, as many currently on the Street can vouch for!

Platt’s life! 2003

Drama is rarely far away for the Platt clan, and never more so than when they were stalked by serial killer Richard Hillman. His dirty deeds may have been exposed, but the family still lived in fear – and with good reason, as the next stop for them was at the bottom of the canal!

Jane Danson & Rob James-collier Leanne Battersby & Liam Connor 2007

Leanne has certainly had her fair share of men over the years – we could fill an entire supplement with photos from the Inside Soap archives of Jane cosied up with various cast mates! But we chose to feature this sweet pic, which we shot for a Valentine’s special, as our overall favourite.

Sam Aston Chesney Brown 2004

Ches was the cutest thing we’d ever seen when he arrived on the cobbles, and Sam was never cuter than when he was plonked

on a beanbag for our photo shoot. It’s no surprise that he scooped two gongs – Best Young Actor and Best Newcomer – at the Inside Soap Awards for his first year on Corrie.

Anne Kirkbride Deirdre Barlow 2012

When Inside Soap celebrated its 20th birthday, we wanted to see some of your favourite stars enjoying their favourite magazine. We took the much-missed Anne to

Freshco’s car park in a pic that saw Deirdre glued to her own dramas unfolding in the mag. Sadly, Anne died three years later aged only 60.

Simon Gregson & Katherine Kelly Steve Mcdonald & Becky Granger 2009

More than one lady over the years has told Steve Mcdonald to get on his bike – but when this pic was taken, Steve and Becky were at the height of their love affair. Just a shame about the rocky road ahead…

Ben Price & Catherine Tyldesley Nick Tilsley & Eva Price 2011

Long before she was romancing Underworld boss Aidan, Eva was having a dalliance with another big hitter on the Weatherfield business scene – Nick of Nick’s Bistro fame. To celebrate, we decided to give the pair a Gone With The Wind makeover, as the fiery couple paid tribute to the classic movie.

Alex Bain Simon Barlow 2012

When we decided to spoof some famous festive films for our Christmas issues, the first thing we thought of was little Alex performing Macaulay Culkin’s famous scream from Home Alone. And with Corrie bad guys Tony Gordon and Richard Hillman peering in on him, it’s no wonder he looks so scared!

Sally Dynevor & Joe Duttine Sally & Tim Metcalfe 2015

As our favourite pairing of the year, we got Sally and Joe into the Christmas spirit for our stylish festive

shoot – their first one as a married couple. They may have seemed an odd pairing when they got together, but their union is still going strong while countless other Corrie couplings have fallen by the wayside!
